Dragonfly Finished!
I had shown you guys this dragonfly pendant a few weeks ago after I found it. Well I have since finished the necklace. However not long after I posted it somebody contacted me later and basically claimed it before the necklace was finished. So I promised to show you all the finished piece, but remember it has already sold :) However feel free to visit my shop day or night via the web...who knows you may find that certain piece of jewelry you didn't even know was meant especially for you http://www.xannasjewelrybox.com/
Thank you for all your interest.
Enjoy,
Xanna :)
A Little Naughty (necklace, new listing)
Are you feeling nice…..or….a little naughty? This lil’ devil heart was created by Boomwire, the iridescent rainbow center almost looks as if it glows with an inner rainbow fire within the velvety black. Iridescent seed beads were placed intermittently along the black wire and hooked to two small link glittery chains. To separate the black wire and chain I used the opalescence of two large opalite beads to compliment the glow of Boomwire’s heart and draw the eye up to the wears face. Both beads are nestled between two black AB Swarovski® crystals. All of it is subtle, yet a little different, something that will start a little conversation! Getting to know some of the lovely people I create jewelry for!
I would like to take a moment and introduce you all to a young lady who fell in love with my jewelry and while working with her I've had a chance to get to know. And now I’m sponsoring her, as much as my small business will allow, through her endeavors! Her name is Teneele Bailey and she is a 2010 Finalist for Miss Black New Jersey. I believe we help ourselves when we help each other, and I look forward to watching her in her success, if you would like to get to know Teneele visit her page at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Montclair-NJ/Teneele-Bailey-Miss-Black-New-Jersey-USA-2010-Finalist/151431299397?ref=mf

Choreoghraphy
I have been busy working on choreography for the winter recital! My jazz 1-2 girls are going to do a dance to "Rock and Roll" by Eric Hutchinson and jazz 3 will do a dance to either: "Don't Call Me Baby" by Madison Avenue or "Delirious" by Prince. As for my ballet 1 classes they are creating it...I know what you are thinking "what does that mean?" I gave them each a bit of homework like: "If you were a snowflake how would you dance?" or "If you were a yellow leaf blowing in the wind, how would you dance?" Then we all will come together and they will teach the class the parts they were told to create, I then will put it all together w/ music to create an Autumn into Winter season medley :) Hopefully it works out as nicely as I see it in my head and if not I know they will have had fun creating it, seeing it come together, and will have learned a little about how dance is used to tell a story without words :)

How to Take and Edit Great Product Photos: A tutorial Part 1
I'm no wiz at taking product photos however I am learning, and right now they are descent however they could be much better, because every time I sell a piece of jewelry the comment I always get is; "Wow! This is more beautiful than the picture! Thank you so much!" So I'm constantly in the persute of better quality photos from an armature with an armature camera...ME! The other problem I run into is I live in the Northwest of the US, and if you don't know, that is the rainy area. It usually starts raining in late September and doesn't let up till late June. So my picture opportunities are few and far between. Another words I'm always looking for some thing better so I don't have to endure hours outside on a frosty, damp, winter day!
I follow several blogs and this morning this one out of Australia caught my eye! She is talking about the things she has found in her struggles to take a great product photo, and basically I wanted to share her info with you. Who knows, she may say something you hadn't thought of and it could make all the difference in your product photography, and could lead to more success!
Enjoy,
Xanna :)

I'm on my annual search for the perfect fall purse! Like all of you, I love the Dooney and Burke, Coach, and Fossil names brands for my bag, however I can't always afford the prices (never is probably closer to the truth) and I would like to have something unusual that people are going to say "Wow! where did you get that!" So in my perusing of Etsy stores I've come up with some interesting stores that you may want to check out.

Come little leaves....-George Cooper
I love creating treasuries! They allow me to be creative and be able to support and promote other artists just like myself!
This time the theme of the treasury is based on one of my favorite poems. I love autumn so it is know surprise I would choose this poem. Come take a look, click on the talent, enjoy the richness of an autumn day http://www.etsy.com/treasury_list.php?room_id=79261
The picture accompanying the post is by a lovely artist (who has created a lovely set of dishes for me) who owns a store by the name of One Wintery Night, you can visit her and see more of her work at http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5600587
Come Little Leaves....
- By George Cooper
"Come, little leaves,"said the wind one day,
"Come over the meadows with me, and play;
Put on your dresses of red and gold;
Summer is gone,
and the days grow cold.
"Soon as the leaves heard the wind's loud call,
Down they came fluttering,
one and all;
Over the brown fields they danced and flew,
Singing the soft little songs they knew.
"Cricket, good-bye,
we've been friends so long;
Little brook, sing us your farewell song-
Say you're sorry to see us go;
Ah! you are sorry, right well we know.
"Dear little lambs, in your fleecy fold,
Mother will keep you from harm and cold;
Fondly we've watched you in vale and glade;
Say, will you dream of our loving shade?
"Dancing and whirling the little leaves went;
Winter had called them and they were content-
Soon fast asleep in their earthy beds,
The snow laid a soft mantle over their heads.

This weekend I took some time off from the computer, dance, and my jewelry and spent some quality time with my oldest daughter and some very good friends of ours! I'm not much of a thrill seeker I'm kind of like Dorothy in the "Wizard of Oz" I don't look for adventure however if it is placed in front of me I will try it. So I tried river rafting down the White Salmon River in Washington State this weekend! What a thrill, scary, but fun! I'm the one drowning in my life preserver!
